Breathless by Amy McCulloch book review

I was suggested to read Breathless by my partner's mum. She said that, as we're going to Switzerland later this year it might get be a good read to ready me for the walking and the hills we'll be navigating. Breathless is about a blogger who ascends a mountain in hopes to get the story of the year about an incredible climber but soon realises people are being killed along the way. The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake book review

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake book review

The front cover of The Atlas Six By Olivie Blake suggests it’s going to have a lot going on. There’s going to be a bit of science, a bit of magic and it’s all going to be dark, brooding and cool. Well, this is all true but somehow Blake, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to make it at all appealing to read about. Please note that this article contains affiliate links. What I’ve Learned From Two Years of Blogging – 3 Must-Use Tips

Features, Tips and Tricks
Never when I started my blog back in 2021 did I think I would end up blogging for this long. It may not seem like that long to commit to something but there is quite a lot more to this blog than just writing and then uploading an article.  Every article I post requires a graphic too, sometimes this can take an hour to come up with. This graphic then needs to be created so it suits the relevant social media platforms, adding to the time.  Once I’ve done this, I then need to add any affiliate links to the post that may be relevant, this requires going through the post and adding these where relevant.  I then need to go through and sort all of the SEO too.  Once…

The 5 Most-Read Articles on my Blog from April 2023

Features, Monthly Round Ups
Let's be honest right off the bat, I only posted a few articles in April, four of which were book reviews so there's really not much choice for the most-read articles from the month. However, seeing which articles performed the best should be interesting. It's more of a contest to see which reviews were the most popular from the month. Please note that this article contains affiliate links. This means if you choose to purchase any products via the links below, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. These affiliate links do not affect my final opinion of the products. As I said, April was mostly book reviews and not that many at that so the list below comprises four book reviews and the round-up…

Wool by Hugh Howey book review

Wool by Hugh Howey book review

Book reviews, Sci-Fi
I'm not sure I've received such a positive response to a book as when I posted about Wool on my Twitter the other week. I posted out asking whether it was a book that was worth picking up as the new TV series was coming out soon. Hugh Howey, the author did retweet the post himself and so I imagine the majority of responses came from his fans but even so, it was such an overwhelmingly positive response, I knew I had to pick it up ASAP. And I'm glad I did! High Wire by Kam Majd book review

High Wire by Kam Majd book review

Book reviews, Crime, Thriller
I love a good thriller but I often find that they end up falling into a fairly formulaic plot. This isn’t always a bad thing as this can be exactly what I’m looking for when I pick up the book and this clearly works for many. However, High Wire is a thriller that doesn’t fall into a generic plot, it’s one that interweaves multiple lives, resulting in one of the most intense and best thrillers I’ll read all year! Aiduel’s Sin by Daniel T. Jackson book review

Aiduel’s Sin by Daniel T. Jackson book review

Book reviews, Fantasy
Daniel T. Jackson turned out to have written one of my favourite books of last year. Illborn was a breath of fresh air in the fantasy space - not all about one special individual written in some ye olde language that has become almost what feels like a necessity for epic fantasies. Instead, it was a well but simple-written book with a very gripping storyline that, despite the large page count, I didn't feel was a long book. Aiduel's Sin is the sequel to Illborn, building on everything Please note that this article contains affiliate links.
