Weyward by Emilia Hart book review

Weyward by Emilia Hart book review

Book reviews, Historical Fiction
Weyward by Emilia Hart is a really unique read. I'm not sure I've read a book before that covers three different stories from three different timelines - therefore it piqued my interest before I picked it up. Plus I'd heard soe very positive things about it. Please note that this article contains affiliate links. High Rise by Vanessa Lee book review

High Rise by Vanessa Lee book review

Book reviews, Contemporary Fiction
Every now and then a book tries to get a message across - whether it's highlighting underrepresented minorities or climate change. And sometimes this is done well and subtly and then other times it's not done so well and feels pushed in your face. Unfortunately, High Rise is a book that does this. It wants to talk about climate change, but also talk about human stories and none are done particularly well. Please note that this article contains affiliate links. Here's something a bit new. Because I've not been finishing any actual books lately to review, I thought I'd do an article on a recent book haul I had when I went into Sheringham which is a north Norfolk town absolutely filled with charity and book shops. Sea State by J.M. Simpson is a book that picked for me as part of me followers picks of the year. if you don't know, at the start of the year, I asked all of my followers to pick a book and then I chose the 12 most-liked or recommended and put one as each month of the year. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas book review

Book reviews
The ACATOR series is one of those names that, as soon as you join Bookstagram or BookTok, you'll start seeing it pop everywhere - especially a few years ago. A Court of Mist and Fury is the second book in the series and the one that I told took the series to another level after I found myself incredibly disappointed with the first. The Maid by Nita Prose book review

Book reviews, Crime, Mystery
During a haul of some of the cheapest paperbacks I could find on Amazon, I picked up the much talked about The Maid by Nita Prose. An appealing front cover and the promise of a unique main character pulled me in on this one and had me hoping for a new series to get stuck into (knowing there was a sequel and plans for a third). And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie book review

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie book review

Book reviews, Crime, Mystery
Agatha Christie is widely considered the greatest crime writer to ever do it. Not only did she end up writing an incredibly large number of them, but some of the "cliches" and "tropes" that we experience in crime today were literally formed by her. This last point is no more true than the incredibly popular story of And Then There Were None. Oh and when I say popular, apparently only about five other books have ever sold more than this one book which is impressive for a woman who penned 75 books, 66 of which were full-length detective novels. A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles book review

Book reviews, Historical Fiction
I picked up A Gentleman in Moscow from my favourite local charity shop randomly one day a few months ago, not really expecting that it would be a book that I picked up that soon. However, when a convenient gap opened up in my reading where I needed a new audiobook and couldn't be bothered to scour for a new one, A Gentleman in Moscow seemed like the perfect fit. I had absolutely no idea what I was in for. Please note that this article contains affiliate links.
