Book Review: Old Man’s War by John Scalzi

We’re many years in the future when humanity has conquered space travel. We now live in a society where on your 75th birthday you can enlist to become part of a program to support humanity’s efforts in space. This program sees you become an elite army to both defend and conquer planets on behalf of humanity. Old Man's War is a fascinating concept and is delivered in a very satisfying way. (more…)

Book Review: The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

Epic fantasy is a genre that often features whole new realised worlds, creative creatures not in our own world, and, more often than not, a big journey. Lord of the Rings arguably shot this genre into the mainstream. Robert Jordan’s The Eye of the World and subsequent series fleshed out the genre and realised its potential. (more…)

Book Review: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

We live in a world where books are banned. The idea of reading is illegal. Books give you adventurous ideas and this isn’t right. Books became a notable way to influence people. There are firemen whose job is to burn these books and the houses they’re housed in. This is the concept behind Fahrenheit 451 and it’s executed excellently. (more…)

A group of boys find themselves adrift on an island. They wake up with no idea where they are. They must make rules to survive. These rules will be the breaking of them. Book review: The Gray Man by Mark Greaney
