Hi everyone and welcome to 2022! I know we’re over a week in now and the New Year and Christmas were nearly two and three weeks ago, but I saw this Tag and really liked the look of it so thought I’d join in.

As you could probably guess, this Book Tag focuses on the new year and my plans for it and what I hope to read more of etc. Hope you enjoy it!
How many books are you planning to read in 2022?
Well, I’ve set a goal of reading 60 books over on my StoryGraph and Goodreads. This is because I read around 62 this year which was a record high for me.
Name 5 books that you didn’t get to this past year but want to make a priority in 2022.
There are a load of books that I either intended to read or wanted to read in 2021 that I never got around to – either because other books came on offer so took priority or because they became available on Libby. Therefore, here are five books that I will most definitely be looking to read in 2022:
Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee – I’ve read the first two in the series, Jade City and Jade War so it’s only right if I finish off the trilogy.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Mass – This got a lot of praise last year and I’m a big fan of fantasy, so this is definitely one I’m hoping to pick up this year.
Before they are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie – I was a HUGE fan of The Blade Itself, the first book in this series so am excited to pick up the sequel at some point this year.
Abbadon’s Gate by James S. A. Corey
Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan – I’ve read the previous five so it’s the only time I pick up the sixth book in the Wheel of Time series.
I mean I have about 50 books on my Kindle that I haven’t read yet and could easily pick up tomorrow. I usually wait for the audiobook to come on offer or the paperback to come into some kind of deal before picking them up.
What genre do you want to read more of?
In 2022, I really want to read more contemporary fiction including thrillers, mysteries and even maybe some slightly horror-focused books too. I’ve got the likes of The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse and The Appeal by Janice Hallett on the go at the moment and I’m excited to read The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell which I recently ordered.
Name 3 not-related-to-book goals for 2022
I’m not a huge one for setting goals as it really only gives you something to feel you’ve failed a the end of the year. I’m much more into setting smaller goals day-by-day or week-by-week. Well, this year I want to take my blog to the next level – I have ideas to introduce an actual shop with physical products, I want to grow the readership and viewership exponentially and hopefully make this a viable source of income by the end of the year whilst retaining the same level of interaction I have across social media I currently have.
Secondly, more personally I want to focus on my fitness and getting back into shape a bit more. 2021 was the year of the “I’ll just keep eating this way until I notice I’m getting out of shape” and that’s started to happen.
And in all honestly, I’m not sure I have a third. They’re two personal goals for me that I’m happy with. Maybe the third could be to become even more financially stable, but that’s all down to focusing more on my own spending.
What’s a book you have had forever and are determined to read?
Well, I’ve had The Bourne Identity on my Kindle for so long and it’s a book that I feel I need to read if I’m going to consider myself an action-thriller reader. I’ve read a lot of the other classics such as the first books in the Scot Harvath series, the Alex Cross series, the Jack Reacher series, the Court Gentry series and the Evan Smoak series among many others, so it’s only right that I get down arguably the biggest action-thriller series of them all.
One word that you’re hoping 2022 will be
Wow. I’m not sure. I think one of the big things everyone wants their life to be is: easier. it’s probably fair enough o say that most people have found 2020 and 2021 harder than many of the years in their lives. I’ve been incredibly lucky, much luckier than many others which I can recognise. However, life can always be slightly easier and I hope this is the case or everybody in 2022.
